Which screenshot sizes does Apple require?
Two, and only one if your app is iPhone-only. Apple's required device sizes are:
- iPhone: at least one screenshot for "iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display)", the group people know as 6.3-inch: 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556 in portrait.
- iPad, if your app runs on iPad: at least one for the 13-inch display: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 in portrait.
If your app looks the same on every size, Apple says you only need screenshots for the highest required resolution, and App Store Connect scales them down for smaller devices. You can still upload screenshots made for each size.

What about Mac, Apple TV, Vision Pro and Apple Watch?
| Apple's name | Often called | Portrait | Landscape |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mac | Not used | None | 1280 × 800, 1440 × 900, 2560 × 1600, 2880 × 1800 |
| Apple TV | Not used | None | 1920 × 1080, 3840 × 2160 |
| Apple Vision Pro | Not used | None | 3840 × 2160 |
| Apple Watch | Not used | 422 × 514, 410 × 502, 416 × 496, 396 × 484, 368 × 448, 312 × 390 | None |
Each is required only if your app runs on that platform. Apple Watch screenshots must use the same size in every language.
What are the rules for format and count?
- 1 to 10 screenshots per device size, in each language.
- .jpeg, .jpg or .png only.
- No transparency. Apple doesn't accept images with an alpha channel, so export PNGs with a solid background. The checker flags see-through pixels.
- Show the app. The App Review Guidelines say screenshots should show the app in use, not just title art, a login page or a splash screen. Text overlays are fine.
What size are app preview videos?
Previews are optional: up to 3 per device size and language, 15 to 30 seconds long, at most 500 MB and 30 frames a second, as .mov, .m4v or .mp4. For current iPhones Apple lists 886 × 1920 in portrait; for 13-inch and 11-inch iPads, 1200 × 1600.
Why doesn't Apple say "6.9-inch" any more?
Apple's pages now name iPhone groups by screen type, such as "iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display)", and added a group for iPhone Duo. The inch sizes in the tables are the names most makers still search for. We matched them to Apple's groups from each group's device list, so treat them as a guide and Apple's names as the rule.
What mistakes does this catch?
- A few pixels off. An export at 1322 × 2870 instead of 1320 × 2868 is rejected. The checker tells you the exact size to resize to.
- Transparent PNGs from design tools with no background layer.
- The wrong format, such as WebP or HEIC from a screenshot tool.
What can't this tool check?
- What's in the screenshot. Whether it shows the app in use, whether the text is readable, whether it matches what the app does.
- Your app's platforms. It can't see whether your app runs on iPad, so it can't tell you whether you need iPad screenshots.
- App Store Connect's last word. If App Store Connect disagrees with this page, it wins. Tell us and we'll fix the table.
