Who is responsible

Browsing

No account is needed to browse. The site is served through Cloudflare, our hosting provider, which processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. We also use your IP address for a moment to limit how many requests one address can make; it is not stored.

We measure listing views and outgoing App Store clicks using a daily-rotating hash of your IP address and browser; the raw values are never stored. Known bots and repeat events are excluded. We count visits to the site the same way, one id per visitor per day, to show how many people are on the site right now and how many visits it has had. For each visit we keep the pages opened, where the visit came from, the country, and the type of device, browser and operating system, never anything that identifies you. Reviewer tools and your private submission pages are not counted.

We use no third-party analytics service.

App icons and screenshots are loaded from Apple’s servers, on the site and in our emails, so your browser or email app connects to Apple when it shows them.

Cookies

We use no cookies for analytics or advertising. The site sets only cookies it needs to work: one that remembers a submission you are filling in (kept for 7 days), and a sign-in cookie for our reviewers. Reviewers can also turn on a setting, kept in their own browser, that leaves their visits out of the statistics. If you close the newsletter box that appears on a first visit, your browser remembers that for 30 days (or for good once you subscribe), so it doesn’t ask again. That note stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

Makers

When you submit an app we store the App Store link, the information we import from Apple, the details you enter, your contact email and, if you give one, your X handle. When you paste your App Store link, we fetch the app’s public details from Apple’s App Store lookup service.

Your email is used for receipts, review status, Spotlight reminders, date changes and results, and launch reports. These emails are sent through Resend. Your email is never shown publicly. Your X handle is public: it appears on your app page with a link to your X profile, and we may use it to tag you when we share your app on X.

We use OpenAI to write your Launch Kit posts, to write a short summary of a listing, and to match an app to what people use it for. For these we send OpenAI the app’s public details (name, tagline, category, developer name and App Store description) and, for the Launch Kit, the facts you gave us about the app. We do not send your email address or your X handle.

Payments

Card details are entered on Dodo Payments’ hosted checkout and never touch our servers. Dodo is the merchant of record. See Dodo’s privacy policy for how they handle payment data.

Subscribing uses double opt-in. Your address is stored in our database and with Resend, our email provider, and you can unsubscribe with one click in any issue.

Service providers

These companies process data for us, each only for the purpose described:

Cloudflare: hosting, page delivery and abuse protection.
Neon: the database that holds submissions, listings and statistics, hosted in the United States.
Dodo Payments: checkout, payments and refunds, as merchant of record.
Resend: emails about submissions, and the newsletter.
OpenAI: writing Launch Kit drafts and listing summaries, and matching apps to what they are used for.
Apple: app details and images from the App Store.

Some of these providers process data outside the European Union, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer relies on the safeguards the provider offers, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Why we may process your data

To provide a listing or Spotlight you asked for, and the emails that go with it (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
To send the newsletter, with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
To count visits, keep the site secure and prevent abuse, in our legitimate interest in running a reliable site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
To keep records we are required to keep by law (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

How long we keep it

Submission and listing records are kept while your listing exists, and afterwards only as long as we need them for legal obligations or to deal with claims. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Visit and listing statistics hold no raw IP address.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Email hello@launchindieapps.com. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, such as the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
