What's the difference between a lifetime purchase and a subscription?

A subscription charges you again every week, month or year until you cancel. A lifetime purchase is charged once and doesn't renew. Both appear under In-App Purchases on an app's App Store page, which is where we checked every app here.

How we choose these apps

We checked every app here against the in-app purchases on its App Store page and its own description. In the first group there is no subscription to buy. In the second, the maker sells a subscription and a one-time lifetime purchase, and you choose. Prices vary by country and can change, so check the listing before you pay.
