What is the App Store subtitle limit?
30 characters. App Store Connect Help says the subtitle can't be longer than 30 characters, and Apple's product page guide adds that it appears below your app's name throughout the App Store.
What should an App Store subtitle say?
Apple's guide asks for a concise phrase that summarizes your app and explains its value in more detail than the name can. Highlight features or typical uses, and avoid generic lines such as "world's best app".
App Review Guideline 2.3.7 sets the limits: no prices, no references to other apps and no unverifiable product claims.
How long are real indie app subtitles?
We read the subtitles of the 30 apps listed on Launch Indie Apps on October 19, 2026.
- Nearly all of the 30 characters gets used. The median subtitle is 28.5 characters, the shortest 23. 22 of 30 are 27 or longer, and 6 of 30 use all 30.
- Lists beat sentences. 19 of 30 join features with "&" or "+", as in "Streaks & Accountability". Only 2 use full stops, as in "Log sets. Track progress."
- Some repeat the name. 5 of 30 repeat a word that's already in the app's name. Apple matches searches against your title, subtitle, keywords and category, so a repeated word is space that could have said something new.

No, it changes with a new version. Apple suggests using that: try a different subtitle with each new version to see which one works best.
